Alright now podcast members! Time to slow things down a bit! Recently, while chatting with an old dear friend about NYC radio personalities Frankie Crocker and Vaughn Harper; I became inspired to start a new series of mixes. DA SLOW JAMZ. So a big thank you to my old buddy Daphne! Crocker and Harper were both known for their "Quiet Storm" or "After Dark" sessions of late night music. They both played a weekly radio series of smooth groove collections. The songs they played were relaxing and sensual melodies, mostly of the R&B genre. Many of us back in the day looked forward to hearing these sessions late at night. These hits often tucked us into bed. Either we fell asleep or kept going! You all know EXACTLY what I mean!
The song's I have chosen for this first mix were songs that were VERY, VERY, GOOD TO ME! ;0) They bring back great memories for me and I hope they will do the same for you. So with that said, I want you to sit back, relax, meditate, what the hell; even masturbate! If we're lucky we can make some good loving, and/or even make some babies! This collection of smooth grooves will definitely take you back, pick up your slack, and at this age; hopefully NOT give you a heart attack!
Enjoy! Did I forget to mention these songs were VERY, VERY, GOOD TO ME! - The Partywrecka.

This next installment in my "Takin' Ya Back NYC Style" series covers my first love of music. The Hip Hop genre. The mix covers the time when Hip Hop music went mainstream, the early 90's. The movement clearly went from east to west coasts and the mainstream media helped launch many careers. The music video era helped broadcast urban music to suburbia. The Hip Hop world began to flourish outside of NYC and other urban cities. This mix provides a combination of smooth grooves, party music, and hardcore hip hop. PLEASE USE DISCRETION WHEN PLAYING IN FRONT OF CHILDREN DUE TO STRONG LANGUAGE AND CONTENT! Enjoy the mix!

While realizing there is a broad spectrum of new music. The Partywrecka's Podcast will not just provide you old school music. We would like to welcome our first guest DJ. His name is DJ Millo, he hails from Staten Island, New York and he has provided me with a REGGAETON / HIP HOP MINI MIX for your listening enjoyment. The mix is about 15 minutes long and should provide you with some good music as you surf the net. Pretty hot mini mix if you are a fan of the modern reggaeton/hip hop music genre.

This next mix in my "Takin' Ya Back NYC Style" collection is all about the "British Invasion" to hit the music scene during the 80's. As a Bronx youth, my memories of this era were my constant trips to Greenwich Village via the #6 subway and the station announcement of arrival; hence the title, "The Next Stop is Astor Place." This style of music, coupled with it's particular fashion trends of clothing and hairstyles; was embraced by a large group of inner city kids. This mix contains songs of different styles within the genre of New Wave itself. Both Pop & Club hits are featured in the mix; notably the very hard to find," A Letter From Afar, by B Movie; which became a New York City classic during this time. Culturally diverse and always dynamic. That statement best describes the youth and music during this era. So without further ado I present to you my latest installment in the "Takin' Ya Back NYC Style" series of old school music. Enjoy!

This next mix in my "Takin Ya Back NYC Style" series is an R&B / Soul collection of hits. Whether on a basketball court, hanging in a park, commuting on a bus or subway; these songs were heard playing on boomboxes or pulsating from the headphones of any Walkman player. This soul genre of music was as much fused with the hip hop scene as both genres were often mixed together. The dominant NYC radio stations, popular DJ's, and the early days of video; only showcased these popular artists to the NYC youth. So without further ado; sit back, kick back, or jump out of your seats! The Partywrecka is takin ya back to a time when this particular genre of music truly lifted your SOUL! Enjoy!

This latest installment of my "Takin' Ya Back NYC Style!" mixes is all about the classic house grooves that hit the clubs of NYC in the late 80's and early 90's. Many origins of House music came from the city of Chicago, but NYC embraced the style all it's own. From it's hypnotizing bass lines and pulsating drops this mix will keep you dancing. If you listen closely you can still hear the crackles and pops of wax, a whistle song or two, and the beloved indigenous Puerto Rican tree frog known as the Coqui. This mix is sure to make you move, jump, jack your body, and stomp all your troubles away! Enjoy!
